I've been really into the sound of the violin lately. Do you know of any good bands or songs that feature it? they can be new, older, or classical. or do u know any songs that have been remade by a sting quartet? i'll take any genre or artist just as long as it feature the violin in the song

Barrage is an amazingly good band featuring violins, along with guitars and percussion. They play a kind of contemporary classical music and go around giving shows.

Their website is www.barrage.ca. Look them up on amazon to hear samples of their CDs.
Charlie Daniels Band, although they probably call it a fiddle, to me it's a violin. Check out the song "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" by them. Great song.
lots of 70's rock bands used violin tracks: ELO, Kansas.

check 'em out
Apparently Itzak Perlman (one of my fave violinists) cried when he heard Stephan Grapelli do this piece that you can listen to on Youtube (enjoy):

I have an old album from yellowcard, it was before they became big and it has a handful of songs with violin, there is also some songs by Dispatch that had violin. Theres also Bele fleck, he is awesome! I have a friend who listens to dave mathews and i think i've heard violins when im at her house listening to his stuff. not sure if this is the kind of music you were looking for but if its not then check classical music it has a lot of violins in them.
Alison Krause and Union Station
yellowcard, four-on-the-floor (they take classical and make it jazz/salsa/rock), yo yo ma, uh i guess my sister says christina aguilera has a new song w/ violin. good charlotte has a few. and i think Evanescence's acoustic has some.... i met the guy who played violin on their acoustic tour (who happens to be in four-on-the-floor and other bands) so i would assume its on the recordings.
there is a fella named Bela Fleck that plays a mean violin and incorporates it into metal. Cool stuff.
the dave matthews band has an incredible violinist named boyd tinsley. check them out if you haven't yet. otherwise just listen to any MPR classical station and you'll hear a large variety of classical violin.

btw, bela fleck plays BANJO, not violin.
fairport convention
Yellowcard are okay...
Try the Moody Blues, they even tour with their own (abbreviated) orchestra.

If you like the fiddle, try some Charlie Daniels.
The Dears

Cursive

it's not violin but a cello
Yellowcard pops to mind immediately. They're an emo/punk band, but they use violin in some of their songs.

Yo-Yo Ma is a cellist, but he usually has other string accompaniment.

Good luck--
mago de oz

its a spanish band, check it out
