I have seen them in different colors , even with designs painted on them. I even saw some in rainbow metallic colors. The pink metallic was pretty. Hope you enjoy learning to play.Practice everyday and you'll learn. The more you put into it the more you get out of it. Happy playing!

I need to play dust in the wind violin solo on stage on saturday but i dont have to notes, it looks pretty easy, and im a fast learner, but n the video they only show parts of the fingering so i cant catch it all. I am a Grade-4 violinist, who had to leave his music school for some reasons.And I have no one now to teach me the vibrato effect on my violin, which was the next thing I was suppossed to learn!So I am desperately soliciting good tips and methods of starting and developing my violin vibrato.

In your case, I think the best thing for you to do now is to find another good violin teacher. To be honest, there are so many ways you could do vibrato that it really varies with each person. Every person's hand is different, and their way of holding the violin is slightly different, so to just learn how to do vibrato over the internet won't help you. When you learn it by yourself, you could easily get into injury just because it's hard to relax the hand at first.

As for me, I have found that I use 3 kinds of vibrato.

1) Arm vibrato;

2) wrist vibrato; and

3) finger vibrato.

To practice the arm vibrato, I put a piece of cloth against the wall and put my violin against it. Then I try to move my arm (keeping the wrist steady)...

For wrist, try the same thing but move the wrist only instead. For finger vibrato - it is hard to describe...ask someone to show you.

I'm afraid I really can't suggest any site to help you. You might try 8notes.com, but even then. Violin is an extremely difficult instrument where movements in bowing and such must be done with precision and a musical ear must be acquired during the learning process (there are no frets, after all, to help locate notes), so I do not recommend attempting to learn it on your own. I was going to when I first started, but believe me, had I done it, I would have given up after a month or so. I still don't have it anywhere near mastered, and I had a great teacher when I was able to have lessons. I strongly advise you get some sort of music teacher to help you along the way. Good luck.

Only one company (thus far) makes one and it is valued at $152,000.00. Oddly, they say it is one of a kind. So I would guess that the one Vanessa-Mae has is not glass but PLEXIGLASS.

remove the remains of the old string by turning the peg counter clockwise

you will of course need a new string

insert the new string into the fine tuner and the peg, then wind up turning the peg clockwise while holding the string tight so it won't slip

you may have to adjust the tension so that the fine tuner is in the midst of it's movement

get as in tune as you can with the peg then use the fine tuner
